Interns generally act as general reporters in the newsroom, so their duties include being able to write on the news of the day and file copy quickly for online. They need to be across the issues and use their solid knowledge of current affairs.
Jessica was able to quickly grasp a brief from the news-desk and deliver clean copy on deadline. She was receptive to feedback and managed to locate a perfect case study for her librarian story in spite of a few dead ends initially.
Jessica was keen to be here and showed an impressive amount of initiative. She tackled all requests with enthusiasm and importantly kept news editors updated with how her stories were progressing.
Jessica should be proud of the solid number of bylines she generated – some of her other stories are in other Fairfax mastheads as well. This is evidence of her valued contribution to The Age.
